SEO optimization .....A B C way !!!

So while many of us spending thousands of dollars & breaking heads on making our site visible to our target audience we are missing on some basics, which can help in putting our site out there right in front off our target audience.

So here are some basic SEO techniques that can help in higher ranking of your website.

1.  Look for most searched keywords:
First start with a simple exercise, put yourself in the shoes of your consumer and ask following questions;

  • What keywords would you use to find your website ?
  • What are the keywords that others in your business are using?
  • What are the generic keywords that define your sector/industry?
  • How would you want the consumers to find you?
Make a list of all such keywords & analyse there search volume using any keyword tool (Google Ad-center, Bing Ad-sense, SEM rush to name a few.)

All your content, categories, sections on your website should be based around these popular keywords.

2.  Improve your content:
Find some topics that you think your competition is missing on their site, but are important for consumers. Now develop some indepth content on these topics, this may look a niche segment but it will project you as and authority on the topics & will make you a go to blogger.

3.  Help from Internal Search:
Take help from internal search of your site or blog to identify what they are searching for & if you have content related to it. Also, its important to note that if your visitors are searching for something and you are using synonyms to those searched keywords than it may act as a disconnect, rectify it.

4.   Let Robots find you:
For visitors to flock to your blog, they need to be able to find it first. Here are a few tips to make sure the bots “get” what you’re offering:

Keep your navigation simple. Make sure there aren’t any pages that are incredibly difficult to get to from your home page.
  • Keep URLs as short as you can. The folder organization within the URL should make sense, too.
  • Bots don’t read the text when it is part of an image. Make sure the text is overlaid on top of the image instead. If that text isn’t in the HTML source as text, it’s likely not going to count.
  • Don’t hide text and require site users to hover over something or click a tab to display the text. If you do this, you risk Google discounting this text, at least partially. Whether it’s product specs or customer reviews, display that great search engine fodder by default.
  • Check that your pages are being crawled often. If there is a strange lag, or if the crawling stops, this is a strong indicator something is awry and Google is having trouble accessing your content.

5.   Get Linked;
It is very important to link your site to other sites & also use some third party content on open source site (such as Quora or Slide share) which uses your site as a reference, this helps in improving authority score of your site & projects you as an authority in the topic. This improves your SEO ranking.

These all simple implementations will go a long way in improving your site content, making it more discoverable & easier to find. Thus driving more visitors to your website.
