Links;
Links can be considered has the first major Off Page optimization strategy. So How it works ?
Consider links as votes for trustworthiness the more votes you have more trustworthy your site is. Google or any search engine for that matter do not count all
links as similar, nor it assigns similar weight-age to all links. Links coming from respected sites carry more weight-age, this is because a respectable person is considering you an authority in the subject matter.
Link Text/Anchor text;
The words within a link — the link text or “anchor text” — are seen by search engines as the way one website is describing another. It’s as if someone’s pointing at you in real life and saying “books” and declaring you an expert on that topic.
You often can’t control the words people use to link to you, so capitalize on your opportunities to influence ANCHOR TEXT, within reason.
Link Number;
Getting more links is definitely a recipe for success, but getting more links from different site is more effective than getting more links from same site.
Lets take an example let say in case 1 we have 100 links from site A & in case 2 we have 1 link from 100 different sites. Now keeping every thing constant, example 2 will be more effective.
But, if site A has better authority score that other than how will it effect SEO ranking is a matter or debate.
Tactics such as viral LINKBaiting campaigns, badges and widgets can all be effective at securing large numbers of links and something even search engine representatives have suggested.
